The White Tower and its prequel Shackled were the first two books I published, so I used to tell my readers to start there. They give the best introduction to the world, its characters, and the magic system.

However, after the creation and growth of the Street Rats series (which takes place about 20 years prior to the Aldoran Chronicles series), I now highly recommend to my readers to begin there.

In fact, I have put a warning in the front of books 3 and 4 of the Aldoran Chronicles that they should not be read without going back and reading the Street Rats. The story lines in the prequel series are vital to the ongoing Aldoran saga.
